Obituary

Cornelio S. Soza aka "Corny" made his final run to Heaven on February 5, 2019 after losing the battle to many health issues.

Corny was born on November 5, 1936 in Glendale, Arizona. At 13 he began driving a truck for his father. Trucking became the love of his life after his wife and family. He stated that after over four million miles and every thing that could be shipped under the sun, he was always ready to take another load, any time and where. This tradition has now been passed to the next generation.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Glenn; three sons, Cornelio G. Soza III and wife Ashleigh, of Atwater, Carlos P. Soza, and wife Melia of Danville, Pennsylvania, Danny Soto, and wife Yvette of Los Banos and one daughter, Sherry Jessen of McCammon, Idaho. He was the oldest of eight siblings, four brothers and three sisters of Phoenix, Arizona, fifteen grandchildren and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by son Steven A. Geer and grandson Adrian J. Soza.

Viewing will be held on Friday February 15th from 3 to 6p.m. at Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home, 901 W. Main Street, Merced CA 95340. Services to be held Saturday February 16 th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1080 E. Yosemite Avenue (NOT! Yosemite Blvd/140 to Yosemite National park)
Merced CA, 95348. Viewing 10 am to 11. Service 11 am to 12. Followed by a procession of his last run to Merced District Cemetery, 1300 B Street, Merced, CA 95341. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home. The family would like to thank all the dedicated persons who assisted in his care.
