Bill passed away Feb 12, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Clinton, OK and grew up in Tucson, AZ. He attended the University of Arizona, where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering. Later he became a registered Professional Engineer with the state of CA. He came to Gilroy in 1966 as the first full time credentialed City Engineer –
Director of Public Works. In 1973, he formed an engineering business with J.R. Garcia, known as Garcia and Henry Civil Engineers. During this time, he also served as consulting engineer for the city of Newman.
He is survived by his wife Mary married 59 years, his daughter Audrey McHenry of Paso Robles (husband Dave, and sons Derek and Stephen), his son Bill Henry of Bentonville, AR (wife Kristina, son Jared, daughter Carly), his daughter Sharon Brinzo of San Carlos (husband Joe, sons Patrick, John, and David), his son Dennis Henry of Salida, and his son John Henry of Morgan Hill (wife Kellin and daughter Lacie). He is also survived by his brother Jim (Dale), John (Paula) and Gary (Joyce) and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Paul (Cathy).
Bill was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend deeply loved by his family and community. He had a deep Christian faith. Almost every church he attended needed his engineering expertise, which he wholeheartedly gave. He attended First Baptist Church of Gilroy for 25 years, and Gilroy Presbyterian Church for 22 years. Bill loved the outdoors. He spent many hours in the garden or on his tractor working the land. With camera in hand, Bill loved taking long trips with the family to visit national parks and other nature attractions. Bill loved people and helping others. He was a humble, selfless man, fully devoted to doing the Lord's works. He will be missed.
