Obituary

William A. Fernandez passed away on January 25, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

William was born on February 3, 1922 in San Francisco, CA. He was a genuine caring and compassionate father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He is a World War II Veteran. He was a part of the valiant service of the United States Coast Guard American Merchant Marines where he served as an Ordinary Seaman aboard the Santa Catalina Vessel and as a General Utility aboard the Stephen Hopkins Vessel. For his brave and honorable service, he was awarded the Atlantic War Zone Medal, Victory Medal, Pacific War Zone Medal, Honorable Service Button, Merchant Marine Emblem and Presidential Testimonial Letter.

He spent his career in the roofing industry in and around the bay area. He is loved and will be greatly missed by many.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service in his honor on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 10:00:am (Seating begins at 9:30am) at Full Gospel Prayer Tabernacle, 7250 Forest Street, Gilroy, CA 95020. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 12:30pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Road, Gustine, CA 95322.
