She attended Solvang Elementary School and Santa Ynez Valley High School. Vicki tickled the hearts of her older sister and brothers with her love and imagination, playing countless hours with the pets and animals in the backyard of their home.
She moved to Fremont, CA in 1975, with her mother Jordis and two daughters Amy and Alison. There she met her husband, Rodney Smith, a truck driver, who found employment for a large paper company. They purchased their family home in Gilroy, CA, and shortly after, Rodney II was born.
The Smith family were avid campers' and part of a group called Colemans on the Go. Their family would often spend weekends visiting various camp sites around California staying in their Coleman tent trailer. Vicki loved to craft and sew, often making her children's clothes and costumes from scratch. She loved Mexican food, specifically enchiladas for which she would often request enchilada sauce to buy from her favorite restaurants and cream puffs from her favorite danish bakery in Solvang, CA.
Vicki was a stay at home mom until 1988, when she took a position at the Elks Lodge as an event server. Members and guests loved her smile and eagerness to cater to their regular club gatherings as well to the variety of special events held up on the Elks hill. She loved volunteering with the Elks at the Gilroy Garlic Festival making pepper steak sandwiches. Vicki was employed with the Elks Lodge for 16 years.
