Toshiko Yamane (Tatsuta) was born in Livermore, CA on May 3, 1916. She passed away on September 28, 2018 in Fremont, CA.
Toshiko was a beautiful woman with a heart of gold - an inspiration for us all. Family and friends were touched by her beautiful smile, peaceful awareness, loving kindness and enthusiasm for life at 102 years.
Toshiko was an awesome seamstress, a gardener with a green thumb, a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing meals for the family especially over the holidays. Shigeru and Toshiko were hardworking farmers raising tomatoes, bell peppers, sugar beets, garlic and a 40 acre pear orchard. In her later years she worked at Gilroy Foods Garlic factory. In her retirement Toshiko made beautiful arts/crafts and was a champion at balloon volleyball and sing-a-longs in her daycare.
Toshiko was predeceased by her husband, Shigeru Yamane, daughter Joyce Midori Ikeda and brother Hiroshi Tatsuta. Toshiko was deeply loved by her family. Daughter Irene Yamane, son-in-law Don Ikeda and 4 grandchildren, Gary Ikeda, Dean Ikeda, Sheri Minamide (husband Jeffrey) and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Neil, and Dave Ikeda (wife Shizuka) and great-grandchildren Sage and Kylie.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St., Gilroy, CA 95020. There will be a Reception following the service at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna Street, Gilroy, CA.
