Tony Abariato Martinez was born December 19th 1929 in Amarillo, Texas and passed away peacefully at home on January 26th 2021 surrounded by family.

Tony was affectionately known as "Super" or Grandpa, even to those who were not related. He enjoyed gardening and keeping his yard in immaculate condition, often boasting of having the best lawn on the block. Tony loved attending garage sales, swap meets, and the flea markets to both buy but mostly sell, especially at the Santa Cruz flea market for as he put it "Those Hippies will buy anything!". Tony's greatest pleasure came from collecting and working on any one of his numerous cars.

The Love of Tony's life was his wife Maria. Tony passed away just 3 weeks shy of their 67th Wedding Anniversary. They met while Maria was vacationing in California. He was so taken by her that when she left to return to her hometown of Juarez, Mexico he followed her and asked to marry her before leaving for the Army, all within a month of meeting! Upon his discharge they settled in Hollister, CA. to start their family. In 1963 they moved to Gilroy, CA to raise their 3 boys. He worked as a mechanic at Gentry Foods until his retirement.

Tony is survived by his wife of 66 years Maria (Gardea) Martinez, sons Tony Jr of Gilroy, Raul of Gilroy, and Tomas of Atlanta. Tony is also survived by his brother Joe Cesareo "Chayo" Martinez, the last remaining sibling from a family of 10.

Grandchildren:
Anthony (Carissa) of Willow Glen, Marcus (Abra) of Willow Glen, Aaron (Mandy) of Gilroy, Cherise (Joseph) of Gilroy, Adam of Hollister, Sabrina (Sam) of Gilroy, and Jacob of Gilroy.

Great-Grandchildren:
Aidan, Avalee, Daisy, Eli, Ella, Emilia, Ezekiel, Jayne, Marie, Mila, and Ximina

Tony is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Maria as well as his daughter Lupe.
