Tomas (Tom) Alfredo Nino passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Tom was born in Gilroy, CA on July 12, 1969 to Jesus and Ramona Nino.  He attended St. Mary School, Palma High School and Gavilan Jr. College before completing his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Fresno State University. Upon graduation, he decided to stay in the Fresno area and worked for 26 years as a social worker.  He devoted his life to helping foster families, later in his career he worked in the community with youth ages birth to 10 and their families providing mental health services. He was passionate about working with kids in his local community to stabilize and support them in their homes.

Tom is survived by his loving mother, Ramona Nino and 7 siblings; Euvaldo, Gabriel (Lisa), Leonor, Anna, Eduardo, Alma, Lorenzo (Sara) and cousin Jorge (Michelle). He is also survived by nieces, Virginia (Carlos), Haleigh & Kami (Dylan), Sofia and nephews, Victor, Dominic and Matthew, as well as great nephews Aiden, Eli, Stetson and Kolter.

Tom is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Nino. The family feels great peace knowing Tom is reunited with his father.

Tom was known for his witty personality and generous heart.  His nephews re-named him Uncle Vroom Vroom as he greatly contributed to their hot wheel collection over the years. He enjoyed time with family and friends and took frequent trips to the coast as a getaway.

A viewing will begin 1:30pm, Friday, Feb. 24, 2023 followed by a funeral mass at 3pm, all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 11 First St., Gilroy, CA.
