After 53 years full of life, Thelma Maria De Leon passed away peacefully on January 14, 2013.

Thelma was a long time resident of Hollister, CA, where she graduated from Hollister High School and became an active member of her community church. She enjoyed a successful 30 year career in banking, earning the respect and dear friendship of many of her peers and customers.

Thelma loved banking and helping others. She also enjoyed gardening, dining and dancing with friends and sharing her faith. To know Thelma was to know a true friend who celebrated life and encouraged others with her spirit.

Thelma was preceded in death by her sister Sylvia Herrera and her brother Michael Herrera. She is survived by her parents Raul and Aurelia Herrera; daughter Jessica De Leon; sisters Belen Martinez and Leticia Churchill; brother Raul Herrera and partner Larry Kerkhoff.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth Street in Gilroy (408) 847-4040. As a celebration of Thelma's life, she requested attendees wear colorful clothing. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity personally meaningful to you.
