IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry
Wolfe
November 22, 1941 – November 3, 2024
Terry Wolfe was born in Gilroy in 1941. She spent her childhood picking prunes in her parents' orchard and herding shorthorn cattle in the hills of Gilroy. After graduating from Gilroy High School, Terry left home to attend San Jose State University. Upon graduating, Terry began her teaching career at Glen View Elementary School in Gilroy and married Russell. When she had her son, Kyle, Terry paused her teaching career. She worked part time at Gavilan College while raising her son. She began substitute teaching until she began teaching full time at San Ysidro Elementary School and then transferred to Eliot Elementary School. Over the years, she has had numerous former students remember her fondly as she enhanced the curriculum through project based learning and wonderful field trip experiences. Terry enriched the Gilroy community through her numerous charity endeavors. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority which raised money for needy families in the community. Terry kept the Gilroy High School FFA Boosters alive long after her son had graduated. The Santa Clara County Cattlewomen's Association was another organization that Terry donated her time to. She worked at the Gilroy Garlic Festival for years and organized volunteers for her sorority as well as Rucker School. Terry also donated many hours at Rucker School in support of her grandsons. She will be honored by the Gilroy Historical Society next year.
Terry never forgot a birthday or an anniversary for her family members or her friends. She was the person you could always count on to be there for a life event. Terry was an extremely talented crafter. She made many beautiful embroidered items, crocheted gorgeous blankets, and many other novelties that she sold at craft fairs. The last craft fair she attended was on October 26, the week before she passed.
The family's cattle ranch was one of Terry's favorite places. She enjoyed taking photos of the ranch as well as hunting when she was younger. Another location that was near and dear to Terry was Capitola. She spent every summer and Thanksgiving at her cousin's house overlooking the ocean.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Kickham and her sister Patricia Deiber. She is survived by her husband Russell, son Kyle (Dana), her grandsons Wyatt and Emmitt, and her nieces Debby Kline (Duffy and Nicki), Darcy Bettencourt (Lester, Amanda, and Lester Jr.) and nephew Darren Dieber.
