Obituary

Doctor Taki Anagnoston's love of life didn't end with his death. He passed away on June 1st, 2023, at 91, while holding hands with his dear wife, Kathleen Anagnoston, at his Gilroy home. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Dr. Taki Anagnoston was known for his kindness, wit, and wisdom throughout his life. He was born on July 4th, 1931, to Nick and Julia Anagnoston in Dayton, Ohio. Taki attended elementary through high school there and graduated from Oakwood High in 1950; He then completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Otterbein College and later graduated from the College of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Cincinnati. "Doc" subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country in the Medical Corps. After, he interned at San Francisco Hospital and then continued to Stanford University, where he served as a Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Taki Anagnoston, M.D. opened a private practice in Gilroy in 1963. Over the years, he also maintained offices in Hollister and Prunedale. "Dr. A" delivered thousands of babies in the communities where he tirelessly served at Wheeler Hospital, St. Louise Regional Hospital, and Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital. His compassion, respect, and tireless dedication were recognized by the medical staff, associates, and community members. In 2010, he was bestowed the Saint Louise Regional Hospital Vincentian Spirit Award. Members of the Daughters of Charity Health System also appointed Taki Anagnoston, M.D. Obstetrics & Gynecology to their honorary medical staff of Saint Louise Hospital for his outstanding service to his community in 2013.

The simplest pleasures brought great joy to Doc. He was a gifted athlete himself. For years he sponsored Dr. A's softball team and led his team to numerous wins as their star pitcher. He also loved bringing his family and friends together during deer season to hunt and barbeque at the day's end at their camp, where he would make his famous beans. He indeed loved many things about life. Holidays, quiet evenings with his family, watching Golden State Warriors games, or Sunday afternoons watching the Raiders and later the 49ers were just a few. Some of his other favorite pastimes were going to the movies, taking scenic drives along the countryside, or simply spending time at home with his family, friends, and pets. Doc had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities.

Dr. Anagnoston's knowledge, love, and compassion touched countless souls, especially his cherished family. His passion, support, and belief in them instilled great confidence and shaped their lives. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Kathleen, along with his children Lorene Callaway and her husband, Duane, Nicole Anagnoston, Jeffrey Parks and his wife Cheryl, and Gregory Anagnoston and his wife, Deena. His six
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren further survive him. He is preceded in his death by his daughter Julia Anagnoston Thompson.

His charming personality and enduring enthusiasm, and love toward life were contagious to everyone he met. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
