Sylvia Florence Beatty of Gilroy went to be with our Lord March 17, 2013. She was 98 years young! Sylvia is survived by her loving daughter Jean Fortino, son, Jerry Barker of Redding, CA., son-in-law, Jim Fortino and her sister, Julia Thorton also of Redding, CA.
Sylvia was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren: Karen Covington, Louie Fortino, Jennifer Hardenbrook, Liz Glass, Toni Mintz, Sandra Gorman, Toni Ann Mangano, Michael Mangano, Gina Pimental, Gregory Mangano(preceded in death), Frankie Barker, Carol Sampson, Cheryl Holiday, Shelley Redd and Kelly Barker.
She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, lots of nieces and nephews and her best friend, her cat Molly. She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Barker and her daughter Vivian Mangano.
Sylvia was a woman full of love and compassion with a huge heart! She was a loving mother, faithful sister, an incredible Nana, fabulous great-grandmother and pretty awesome great-great-grandmother...Her family meant everything to her. But most of all, her strong Christian faith is what made her the person she was.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, March 24, 2013, 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, 8455 Wren Avenue, Gilroy.
