Steven Dean Woodson, loving husband and father of seven, battled lung cancer for 14 months and passed away peacefully on April 11 with his family by his side. Steven was born on July 25th, 1952 in Oakland, California. Steven grew up in El Cerrito, California and went on to attend the University of Berkeley, California. He graduated from Berkeley in 1974 and earned a degree in English, which he used for his acceptance into San Francisco Law School. Steven graduated from law school in 1978, eager to begin his career in criminal law while striving to become one of the most renowned attorneys in northern California. He practiced law for 33 years while taking on countless murder trials with amazing dedication. Steven met his beautiful and loving wife Ramona in the year of 1987, and married on July 23, 1988. Throughout his joyful 23 years of marriage with Ramona, Steven devoted his life to raising his children in the Catholic Faith. He was a selfless, strong man who cared for nothing except for his Catholic Faith, the welfare of his family, and his work. Steven loved to read and possessed over a thousand books in his library at home. He was an athletic man, playing numerous sports throughout his life giving him the ability to pass his experiences onto his children. Steven is survived by his wife, Ramona, and his seven children; Dominic, Augustine, Gabriella, Monica, Sebastian, Damian and Antoinette, and his mother, Mary Woodson. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth Street, Gilroy, CA 95020 with public viewing between the hours of 1pm-9pm. Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, April 15th 9:00 a.m. at Thomas More School, 1565 White Road, San Jose, CA 95127. Burial will follow in Gilroy at St. Mary Cemetery. Reception will follow at Thomas More School.
