Steven Gonzales of Gilroy, CA. passed away peacefully on March 24, 2020 after a short and sudden illness. Steven was an Auto Body Mechanic and Painter in Gilroy for 40 years, working at Union Body Shop and Mathison's Auto Body. Steven's greatest passions were Drag Racing and Classic Cars. Steven, his son and wife passionately drag raced their 1955 Chevy with Steven being the mechanic and his son being the driver. Steven was a friend to everyone and was known for his unique sense of humor. Steven was proud to be a U.S. Army Veteran having served from 1968-1970. Steven was also a member of New Hope Community Church in Gilroy and cherished his Christian faith.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents Joe & Ramona Gonzales and siblings; Sarah Gonzales, Rev. Samuel Gonzales and Elizabeth Barbosa. Steven is survived by his wife Janice Horner Gonzales of Gilroy and son Steven Gonzales Jr. of Gilroy. Steven is also survived by his siblings; Rev. Rose Ann Cordero of El Centro, CA., Ben Gonzales of Los Banos, CA., Ramona Luis of Modesto, CA., Joe Gonzales of San Jose, CA., David Gonzales of Rathdrum, ID and Paul Gonzales of Fallon, NV. Also many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
