Boggs
September 21, 1971 – December 28, 2019
Steve was the beloved son of Erwin and Barbara Boggs, brother of Sheryl Butler (Walt) and uncle of Ashley Butler and brother of Terry Allen Boggs. He has many relatives on the East Coast.
Steve was born in Salinas. The family moved to Gilroy on 1978. He attended Gilroy schools. During high school he worked at Yogurt Express. He worked seven years at Lyons Restaurant. He has been a school bus driver for Gilroy Unified School District for 18 years. The last couple of years he has sold honey in Oakland on Sundays.
Steve traveled to Mexico with his church youth group helping with Vacation Bible School and working with the young people. His special interests included bowling, shopping, traveling and spending great times with his very special friends and family. He enjoyed cooking, baking, making floral arrangements for various occasions and helping plan and work at weddings. He was an avid collector of his favorite Disney characters-Pluto and Mickey.
For over 20 years he hosted his annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving party, decorating to the extent and spending time with his friends. He was a loyal Garlic Festival volunteer for 32 years having worked in Gourmet Alley, the Chamber of Commerce booth, the Cook Off Stage, shuttling people from the parking lot and selling honey.
Steve was diagnosed with stage IV cancer seven years ago and fought a valiant fight. He continued working while going for chemo treatment every other Monday. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 :00 am, Saturday, January 25 at Old City Hall Restaurant.
