With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stephen Fox Rose of Morgan Hill, CA on December 20, 2024. Stephen, better known as Steve, was born on September 30, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lola Woodland Fox Rose and Gale Wood Rose. The Family later moved to Chicago, IL, followed by Shaker Heights, OH, where he graduated from Shaker Heights High School. Steve was a beloved father, respected brother, dedicated Navy veteran, and a skilled Electrician who touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity.
Steve served his country with honor in the United States Navy, where he completed ranking as an ETN2 (SS), E5. Here, he developed a strong sense of duty and discipline that he carried with him throughout his life. A true Navy man, Steve was a "gentleman of liberal education, refined manners, punctilious courtesy, and the nicest sense of personal honor". Stephen Fox Rose was honorably discharged in 1971 after his last assignment on the USS Haddock (SSN-621) class submarine.
After his military service, he took time to embrace life with a free spirit. He established himself in the Bay Area and went on to thrive in a 25 year career as a Local 332 Union Electrician; a profession where his meticulous approach and work ethic shone brightly. Steve earned an early retirement at the age of 58, where he was able to relax and enjoy his golden years. He loved to travel the coast of California, read, cook, and watch sports.
Steve loved the meaning of life and lived it to the fullest. His greatest pride and joy were his two daughters, Sheena and Diana. He was a devoted father who provided endless love and support, always putting his family first. Steve also leaves behind a cherished grandson, Zachary, a beloved son-in-law, Gabe, three brothers, Tim, Charlie, and Phil, and his sister, Barbara. He is now reunited with his parents, brother Frank, and beloved dog Snow in eternal peace. His family will forever cherish the memories of their time together and the lessons he imparted.
A man respected for always being true to himself and loving unconditionally. Steve leaves behind a legacy of integrity, hard work, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
