Socorro Mabulay Duyao 91, passed peacefully on January 8, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Gilroy, CA.

She was born November 11, 1926 in Poro Cebu, Phillipines to Albino Mabulay and Asela Baillo.

She was the loving wife of Santos Duyao who preceded her in death in January 1999, and by her grandson Josiah Santos Duyao in July 2017. She is survived by children: Linda(Dennis) West, Benjamin Duyao, Angela Duyao, and Rick Duyao; 6 Grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren.  She is also survived by extended family in Northern/Southern California, The Phillipines, New Zealand and Oman.

Socorro, also known as Coring or Cory to friends and co-coworkers arrived from the Philippines on December 24, 1946.  After her arrival, she and her husband settled in Santa Clara Valley, first in Morgan Hill and then Gilroy in 1963.  She worked in food service at Wheeler Hospital from 1962 -1975 and Gavilan College from 1975-1983.  After her retirement she enjoyed gardening, working out at the gym and watching her grandchildren.

After 29 years she returned to her home country in 1975 to visit family.  On average she would return every 2 years. She would often return in December or January so she could celebrate Santo Nino de Cebu, a religious festival.  Her last visit to the Phillipines was June 2016, and had planned to return January 2018.

A Vigil Service will be held at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St., Gilroy CA on Thursday January 18 at 6:30 p.m. with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday January 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gilroy.  Burial will be at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy
