Sara Ann Basaldu Amaya, was born in Robstown, Texas on October 8th 1936.
The story goes that she had been the first baton/majorette of hispanic descent in that area of Texas. She was a hard worker and raised 5 children on her own, while working on her B.A. in Social Service, and masters in Multi-Cultural Education from San Diego State University. She eventually moved to Gilroy, Ca. with Her children, Andrew Amaya, Edward Amaya, Veronica Amaya, Christopher Amaya, and Bernadette Villasana, where she stayed until her retirement from Santa Clara County. And, then moving to Paradise,Ca. where she finished out her years.
She has 8 grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren.
Sara was a devout Christian and lived her life through the Lord's guidance.
Visitation Thursday February 20, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Habing Family Funeral Home
Funeral Services Friday, February 21, 2014 – 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy.
