IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Salvatore Mario
Oliveri, Jr.
September 22, 1955 – November 21, 2021
Salvatore Mario Oliveri Jr, 66, of Gilroy, left his earthly body on November 21, 2021 to continue his eternal journey into Heaven. He fought courageously, with Dignity and true Grace. His only concern in life, was making sure his family, were well taken care of. Sal's love for his family was so deep, that throughout his pain and suffering, his deepest wish was that his family knew that he fought to stay with them, as long as his body would allow him.
Born to Salvatore Mario Oliveri Sr. and Margherita Oliveri in Detroit, Michigan on September 22, 1955, Sal came into this world as he left it, which was always on his own terms. Born into a traditional Sicilian family, he was taught to make his own way in this world, and to live by the morals his parents instilled in him. Sal took great pride in his Italian heritage. With his first primary language being Sicilian, he had to learn English by teaching himself and learning the American way of life. This never stopped him from being a successful entrepreneur and always striving for more.
Sal lost his son, Salvatore Mario Oliveri III in 1991. He always made sure that he didn't allow that to affect the Dad and husband he was. As devastating as the pain of that experience was, he continued to always smile and light up a room, with his glistening eyes and gentle demeanor.
One of his biggest accomplishments was the success of his pizza parlor, Pinocchio's Pizza #1. He started this business with his Dad and family in 1978 and was always so proud of how the community welcomed it and helped it flourish to this day. Sal, his wife Vickie, his daughter Gina, and son-in-law Duke, have run the business side by side for many years together. Even after becoming ill, Sal continued to be devoted to his business and worked every day. His promise to his family was to always ensure they were provided for. Sal didn't allow any situations in life to change his demeanor.
Sal and his daughter Gina were best friends and inseparable. Wherever you found Sal, Gina was close by. Gina will take great pride in honoring her Dad and continuing his legacy of Pinocchio's Pizza #1, along with her Mom, Vickie, and husband Duke.
Sal was always the rock of our family. We always knew whatever problem arose, he would fix it and make things right again. Sal always supported his wife and daughter in every decision they made. He was their #1 fan, as they were his. Whatever we wanted, Sal always made sure it happened. He would put his life on the line to defend anyone he loved. Vickie and Gina were safe and never in harm's way, as he was always their protector.
A man of true honor and we can't imagine our lives without him.
Sal loved Christmas, and would watch Christmas movies every day of the year, if he could. He asked us to put up our Christmas tree in October this year, as he knew his time on Earth was coming close to an end. He wanted nothing more than to celebrate one more Christmas with us.
In honor of him, please enjoy your Christmas with those you love and remember him.
Sal is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vickie Oliveri, daughter and pride and joy Gina Polhaupessy, and his son-in-law and forever faithful "sidekick" Duke Polhaupessy Jr. Sal is also survived by his Mother Margherita Oliveri, brother Tony Oliveri (Julie), Sister Mary Kouretas (Pete), Sister Pam Leal (Amador), Sister Elena Coco (Enzo), and Sister Geneva Oliveri. Sal is also survived by Mother-in-law Maxine Filice. He is survived by his special Grandson Kyle Kitchens. Sal was survived by many nieces and nephews who will forever know him as the "cool" Zio/Uncle. Sal was also survived by daughters Kelly Richards and Kristina Arredondo.
Sal was preceded in death by his Son Salvatore Mario Oliveri III, Father Salvatore Mario Oliveri Sr, Father-in-law Tom Filice and many more who have stepped into their forever journey before him.
Although we will be looking for you, in everything we do, we know you are now reunited with Little Sal and Nonno.
Dad, it was our absolute honor to care for you and be with you every step of the way. We will miss you so very much. We love you more than life itself and know you are telling us "ditto".
Be at Peace Superman. You won the battle. You are forever Sal Strong.
