IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Salvatore Mario
Oliveri
March 1, 1930 – August 25, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Nonno and Great Nonno, Salvatore Mario Oliveri. Salvatore passed away at his home on Wednesday August 25, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 91.
Salvatore Mario Oliveri was born March 1, 1930 in Carini, Italy to Maria Nania and Antonio Oliveri. Salvatore met the love of his life, whom he adored, Margherita Cracchiolo in the small town of Carini, in Sicily, Italy when he was 19. He immigrated from Sicily in 1950, on a ship, to the United States. He settled in Detroit, Michigan for a short while. He then made several moves and eventually settled in the city he loved, Redwood City, California. There he worked for PG&E for several years. While working for PG&E he brought his mother and siblings to California so they can make a better life for themselves. Salvatore wanted to venture out on entrepreneurship so he opened a bicycle shop. Later, Salvatore liked the pizza business and decided to open a pizza parlor, Pinocchio's Pizza #1. Salvatore took pride and worked hard with everything he did. He became a successful entrepreneur and Real Estate Investor. Sal lived a full and rich life filled with love of many family and friends.
Everyone who knew Sal knew that he loved to fish, joke, sing in Italian, hum, graft trees, grow fruit trees and absolutely loved to eat. He made sure everyone who came to his home left with a full panza. When it came to food Sal wouldn't accept no for an answer, everyone who came to his house must eat. Sal's biggest joke was to take food from everyone's plate and eat it.
Sal was a very loving, supportive and generous father. He loved to be around his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He loved their company so much that he even bought a mausoleum for our family to be together after death, eternally.
Salvatore touched the lives of so many in our community with his delicious pizza. He is survived by his wife Margherita Oliveri, six children and their spouses. Tony(Julie) Oliveri, Mary(Pete) Kouretas, Palmina(Amador) Leal, Salvatore(Vickie) Oliveri, Elena(Enzo) Coco, Geneva Oliveri, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and his doggie babies Lucy and Lulu.
Salvatore was preceded in death by his mother (Maria), father (Antonio), grandson (Salvatore Oliveri), brother, sisters and his 4 legged babies Chanel and Gucci.
Salvatore will be greatly missed by his daughters who cared for him, Geneva Oliveri, Palmina Leal and (his sidekick for 40 years, the hear no evil, see no evil pair) son-in-law Amador Leal, his neighboring grandchildren, Amador Oliveri Leal, Lorianna Oliveri Leal, Alessio Oliveri Leal, Fabrizia Oliveri Leal and many more grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Sal was a man of great faith and conviction who loved God with his entire being. He will be remembered by his famous words to all of us when leaving his house "see you in church." Remember he hasn't left us, he just changed his address to heaven.
