Obituary

Salvador Viveros of Los Baños, California was called to eternal rest on Friday, March 26th at 4:15 pm; after an intensive seven week battle with COVID-19.

Salvador died of complications due to COVID-19 just weeks before he would have celebrated his 61st birthday.

In his final days leading up to the diagnosis, Sal spent his time working (as he did every day for 41 years) in the Mill at Gilroy Foods; playing for hours at the park feeding the duckies with his grandson's, Brandon and Max; or helping his son Erasmo with his never-ending home improvement projects; all while never forgetting to have Sunday morning breakfast with his family and friends at his favorite eatery, Black Bear Diner.

Sal had touched so many people in his short, yet memorable life. But those who were touched by his smile, kind generosity, or laughter understood that the quality of his existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which he lived.

When he smiled, everyone knew everything was going to be okay.

A man of faith, Salvador received his Last Rites at the hands of Reverend Father Eric Pockwicz of San José just hours before his passing.

"...mijo, my life is in God's hands now."

He gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.

Salvador is proceeded in death by his father Salvador Viveros, his sister Maricruz Juarez of Villa Jimenez, Michoacan, Mexico; and his mother Juana Gonzalez of Brentwood, CA.

He is survived by his siblings, Delores Viveros, Gilberto Viveros, Trinidad Viveros of Mexicali, Baja California, MX; Bertha and Jose Gomez, Elvia Viveros, Laura Viveros, Hector and Rosemary Viveros of Brentwood, CA; along with countless nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He further leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Josephine Viveros of Gilroy, CA; his son's Salvador Viveros, Jr., of San José, CA; and Erasmo Viveros of Los Baños, CA; and undoubtedly his greatest accomplishments - his two grandson's Brandon and Max Viveros.

Though he is in God's hands now, he'll forever be in our hearts.

The Rite of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 11 1st Street, Gilroy, California 95020 on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm with internment to follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, 1000 1st Street, Gilroy, California 95020.

All in attendance are asked to please follow closely CDC guidelines for face masks and social distancing.
