Salvador Franco, Jr. age 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 2, 2013 in Gilroy. He is the beloved husband of Stephanie Franco for 72 years. Loving father to Pat (Charlie) Mendez and Thomas (Mae) Franco. Devoted Grandpa of Mark (Stacy) Carpenter (San Jose), Doug Carpenter (San Jose), Jennifer Franco (Reno) and Amanda Franco (Hollister) and Great Grandpa to Chase, Logan and Delaney Carpenter. He is survived by his brother John (Audrey) of Hollister and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters Jay, Mercy, Minnie, Angie, Frances, Dolly and brothers Tony, Mike and Amor Franco.

Sal enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories, fishing and his monthly trips to the casino. He was an active member of the Gilroy Senior Center and loved working in his yard and watching his fruit and vegetables grow. He was the last surviving member of a group of over 30 men who met weekly to play bocce.

Visitation will begin on Sat., Aug. 10, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th Street, Gilroy. Burial will be private at San Carlos Catholic Cemetery in Monterey, CA.
