Roy F. Johnson born August 30, 1943 passed away peacefully July 26, 2026 at the age of 83. Roy was born in Worchester Massachusetts to Franklin V. Johnson Jr. and Irene T. Roy Johnson. Roy, excelled in high school sports, famously being inducted into Leicester High School “Wolverine Hall of Fame” for baseball. Roy later played minor league baseball, he was also an avid golfer with a great swing. Roy proudly served our country for 6 years in the United States Air Force. Roy went on to marry the love of his life, Terry, in July 1996. Roy and Terry were able to spend years traveling together site seeing and making great memories together.

Roy loved all sports, particularly basketball and baseball. When Roy was not watching sports, you could find him at the casino playing Keno, in his backyard doing yard work, at his kitchen table working on word search puzzles, or sitting contently with his wife watching Hallmark movies.

Roy is preceded in death by his father and mother, Franklin and Irene. His mother-in-law who he absolutely adored Aurora Haro, his father-in-law Nick Haro and his niece Roxanne Haro.

Roy is survived by his wife Terry Johnson, sons Roy Jr., Jimmy, Allen and Brent (Rochelle). Stepsons, Derek (Nannette), Sean (Debbie), Adam (Octovia), and sister Beverly. Grandchildren Aaron, Aarallaine, Alaina, Brie, Jeanette (Julio), Derek (Brittani), Kristen (Corey), John (Fatima), Alex (Conner), Stephanie (Josh), Ryan, Olivia, Sean Jr., Andrew, Austin, Aiden, Eduardo, Aurora, Adam Jr. and great grandchildren, Juliette, Jeremiah, Jason, Joey, Natalie, West, Liam, Miabella, Jaxson, James, Aiden, and Liam.

Services will be held on August 18, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 11 1st st. Gilroy, CA 95020 at 9am, reception to follow at the Japanese School House 11199 Geil St. Castroville, CA 95012 11:30am-5pm. There will also be a brief ceremony at the CA Dept. of Vet Affairs at 2900 Parker Flats Rd. Seaside, CA 93955 at 1:30pm, the ceremony will not interfere with the reception and anyone who would like to join is welcomed.
