Rosemarie "Dixie" Cecilia Herren, beloved Wife and Mother, died peacefully at her home on October 10th 2021 at the age of 79.  A funeral service is scheduled for 10 am on Oct 29, 2021 at the St Mary Catholic Church In Gilroy. Dixie was born May 24th 1942 to Richard and Ida Smith.  She grew up in El Paso Texas where she attended Loretto Academy Catholic school for girls.  In 1964 she graduated from Sacred Heart Dominican College in Houston Tx. with a BS in Nursing.  A month later she married John "Jack" Herren on June 13 1964.  They moved to Carlsbad New Mexico where Dixie began working for St Francis Hospital.  She left work the next year to start their family which later added three boys John III, Craig and Eric.  Dixie and her family moved around before settling in Gilroy in 1976. There she returned to work as a registered nurse for Kaiser at Santa Teresa Hospital in 1979.  Later Dixie worked at the Kaiser clinic in Gilroy before retiring in Oct. 2005.

Dixie is survived by her husband John C Herren Jr, her son John C Herren III (wife Natida), Craig S Herren (wife Tina), and Eric S Herren (wife Diana and her children Tyler and Sierra), Siblings Lionel "Leo" Smith, Joanne Vincent and Richard "Ricky" Smith Jr., Grandchildren Emma, Chloe, Garrett, Bridget, Nevin and Sean.
