Ron, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. A devoted father, grandfather, and friend, Ron touched the lives of many throughout his long and fulfilling life.

Born in Joliet, Illinois, near Chicago, Ron moved with his family to San Jose at the age of 4. He attended St. Leo's as a child, continued on to Palo Alto Military Academy.  He graduated from Campbell High School, with multiple metals for swimming. Shortly after finishing his education, Ron enlisted in the United States Army in 1956, proudly serving his country for four years before joining the Army Reserves for two years as a member of the Military Police in the 306.

Following his military service, Ron followed in the footsteps of his parents, working in the family business —a skilled nursing facility located in Willow Glen serving his community for 54 years. Ron was also a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge for over 40 years, where he built lasting friendships and connections.

Ron had a zest for life and many passions.  He cherished spending time with his family at his home in Lake Tahoe, enjoyed the excitement of gambling, and had a deep love for Corvettes, movies, and his pets.  He treasured his fishing trips and memorable moments with his family. As a devoted Catholic, Ron's faith guided him throughout his life.

Above all Ron was a loving father and grandfather.  He is survived by his beloved children, Mary Martin, Paul Sollis, and Mandy Sollis; his son-in-law Jim Martin and daughter-in-law Peiling Schaub; and his cherished grandchildren, Ian Schaub and Ethan Sollis. Ron is also survived by his sister-in-law Natalie Sollis, nieces Laurie and Cynthia, and nephew Mike. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Sollis. Ron will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, selfless nature, and love for those around him.

A service to celebrate Ron's life will be held on Thursday, October 17th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Gilroy, followed by a burial at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ron's memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Ron's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
