Rodolfo Alonzo

February 11, 1948 — March 22, 2026

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rodolfo “Rudy” Alonzo, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, on March 22, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on February 11, 1948, in Crystal City, Texas, Rudy was raised in Gilroy, California, surrounded by family and friends. He proudly served in the United States Navy, where he met the love of his life, Susan. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion. He loved her deeply, cared for her tirelessly, and celebrated life with her every day.

Rudy had a fulfilling career, notably at IBM, as this is where his love of computers took root, before returning to the Gilroy Unified School District, where he eventually retired. His fascination with technology stayed with him all his life, from building computers to exploring new technology.

Music was Rudy’s heartbeat, filling the house with carefully curated playlists and the soundtrack of family gatherings. Pool parties, card games, and playful competitions - especially his luck with twos - brought joy and laughter to us all.

He was a passionate collector of $2 bills, coins, and nostalgic toys, each reflecting his playful spirit and love for life’s little treasures.

Family meant everything to Rudy. Family gatherings were his favorite pastime. He often spent Sundays taking Menudo to enjoy with family, a small act that spoke volumes about his generosity and love. He also adored quality time making tamales with the family during the holidays.

He was generous and always quick to help. He was our rock. He was known as the fun one, he worked hard and enjoyed his life. He was full of dad jokes, laughter and love.

He was a man of quiet faith, carrying a steady belief in the power of love, family, and connection.

Rudy is now welcomed home by his grandson Pedro Rudolfo Aguirre; his parents, Petra Alonzo Torres and Jesus Alonzo; his sisters Estela Morales, Clarita Lugo, and Margarita Alonzo; and his brothers Jesus Alonzo and Jose Alonzo, along with many loved ones we’ve lost along the way.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Alonzo; daughters Kimberly and Christina Alonzo; grandchildren Christian Aguirre, Laurynn Stewart, Diego Estrada, and Gabriella Estrada; siblings Noelia Trevino, Roberto, Raul, Pablo, and Charles Alonzo; and many extended family members and friends.

Rudy will be remembered for his generosity, humor, love of family, and the warmth of his smile. Those who knew him carry his spirit in their hearts, a reminder to embrace life, cherish family, and celebrate the little joys - just as he did every day.
