Robert Lawrence Marks

October 18, 1940 — May 28, 2026

Robert (Bobby) Lawrence Marks, 85, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 28, 2026. He was born on October 18, 1940, the son of Ernest and Mary Marks in San Luis Obispo, California and moved to Gilroy later. He was the youngest of six.

He was a proud member of the Gilroy community, from graduating from Gilroy High School in 1959, to living there or neighboring cities his whole life. He was a proud member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Right out of high school, he started truck driving, and from there it was history. Bobby drove truck for well over 50 years driving wherever was needed.

Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Marks, and his two sons James and Thomas Marks. Also, grandfather (Pa) to Lindsay (Alex) Ruvalcaba and great-grandfather to Alice Ruvalcaba. He cherished his extended family of many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He touched many lives and made sure to show love to just about anyone.

He was predeceased in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Marks; his sister Della Rodrigues, and brothers; Joe Marks, Ernie Marks, Lambert Marks, and Gene Marks. Also, his beloved grandson and best friend some may say, Robert J. Marks.

Bobby made sure to enjoy his time with friends and family. That could be going to a truck show or car show, the drag races, Chukchansi Casino, or just enjoying a good meal with a cup of coffee and Spumoni ice cream to finish.

He was loved by many for his jokes and constant smile that could brighten up any room. His presence will be missed in any gathering, but he must have the best seat in the house.
