Robert Joseph Heiser (Bob) was born on March 13, 1958 at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. He left this life to join his parents, Mary and Joseph Heiser, on February 16, 2015. Growing up the sixth of ten children, Bob developed a wonderful sense of humor and a love of family.
He attended St. Francis Cabrini and Leigh High School in San Jose, California, where he was a stand-out basketball player, before attending West Valley College. Bob built a successful sales career that included 14 years with Aspect Communications where he last served as regional vice president of foundation account sales. He was also a volunteer with Second Harvest Food Bank and served as the site coordinator for the Gilroy distribution center.
Bob was happiest surrounded by his family – the daughters he adored, his precious grandchildren, his siblings and their spouses and his many nieces and nephews. Bob and his four brothers spent many weekends working on the family property by day, enjoying hot dogs on the beach for dinner, and playing cards late into the night. Bob loved games of all kinds, the company of his friends and family, good music and good beer.
An avid San Francisco Giants fan and season ticket holder, Bob spent many happy hours watching his favorite team and loved taking his grandchildren, his daughters and his friends to the park. Bob was kind, generous, successful and loving and would help anyone who asked for his advice, guidance or assistance. Deeply loved by his large, extended family and the friends he held close, he will be missed by all.
Bob is survived by his three daughters; Valerie Heiser, her children Jocelyn, JR, Logan and Bobby and their father, Jason, of San Martin; Sandy Paladino, her husband Joey and their children Kaila and John of Pace, Florida; and Sarah Spurgeon and her husband Travis of Raeford, North Carolina.
He also leaves behind his brothers Joe, Bill, Richard and Chris Heiser, their spouses and children, his sisters, Maggie Givlin, Kathy Finnigan, Nora Propersi, Nancy Williams and Susan Heiser, their spouses and children, and many cousins and extended family members.
A celebration of his life will be held at Habing Family Funeral Home (129 Fourth Street, Gilroy) Thursday, February 26 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, Bob's daughters have asked that donations be made to the Green Beret Foundation (www.greenberetfoundation.org).
