Robert (Bob) Foster passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9th in Modesto, CA with family by his side. Up until the fall that broke his hip in July, Bob was still living independently at 89 years old. He never fully recovered from the hip surgery and turned 90 while in the hospital.

Bob was born in Nebraska to Howard & Iva Foster. The family moved to Oregon when Bob was about 3 years old. He graduated from Tigard High School in 1951. Bob was a carpenter/cabinet maker for over 20 years. He met his wife Helen while he was in the Army stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey County, CA. Lovingly referred to as "Papa" by his grandchildren, Bob was a wonderful, generous, happy man – always smiling, especially when there were cheeseburgers on the menu! Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Helen Mazzuca Foster who passed in 2005 and his sister Barbara Baughman of Lincoln City, OR who passed in 2018. He is survived by his daughter Jacki Nielsen (husband Geoffrey), his son John Foster (wife Stacey), 4 grandchildren (Justin Nielsen, Joy Simi, Susan Foster & Joseph Nielsen) and one great grandchild (Joannie Simi), his brother Frank Foster of Sanger CA, his sister Betty Nesvold of King City OR, his brother-in-law Bob Mazzuca of Santa Cruz CA and many nieces & nephews.

A small, graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery (1st St. in Gilroy) on Monday, November 13th at 10am.
