Robert P. "Bob" Chappell passed away peacefully in his sleep October 15, 2014, at the age of 91. He was married to Rowena N. Chappell for 66 years. He enjoyed all of his years in Gilroy as a loyal son, wonderful husband, exemplary father, hard working business owner, and participated in local organizations such as the Masonic Lodge, Water Board, Planning Commission, School Board, and the Episcopal Church. Following his service to the US Army at Fort Ord, he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, in June 1947. From that time forward he continued and grew the business of Chappell Pump & Supply.
Bob's many friends and business associaties shared a common bond related to prideful work, community service, social engagements, travel and humor.
He is survived by his wife, Rowena, son Martin Chappell, Cynthia Chappell, Natalie Chappell, Nicole Chappell, Kathy & Emily Powell, Alan, Kim, David & Sarah Rossi. Private services were held graveside on November 1, 2014.
