Richard A. M orelos was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, August 19, 2011 after a long struggle with Cancer. He was born October 11, 1946 in Brownsville, Texas where he lived until he graduated from Brownsville High School In 1966. Shortly after graduating he married his high school sweetheart Margarita Garza. He and his wife then moved to California immediately starting a family of his own and learning a trade. Auto mechanics. He specialized in Transmissions and quickly became owner/manager of his own business. Beginning with Rick's Transmission Shop then Watsonville Transmission Shop, Soquel Transmission Shop, and finally Automatic Transmission Shop in Gilroy where he shared ownership with his brother Rey for 34 years.
His hobbies were raising birds, golf, barbequing, singing, dancing and playing his guitar. His children and family were his first priority during his lifetime, and the friends he made lasted for years. Richard was the perfect example of love and loyalty to all his family and close friends. He will be greatly missed. Richard is survived by his wife of 45 years , Margarita. His children - Patricia Oakey ( husband - Justin )

Grandchildren - Francis, Aubrey, Sarah, Katie, Ryan and Justine Fielding, Amanda James, Davey, Josh and Devin Oakey, Angelita, Allysa, and Melissa Morelos, Maya, Gavin, and Vincent Torrez.
He survived by siblings Genevieve Longoria, Alice Mansfield, Annie
Moss, Estella Torrez, Rey Morelos, Danny Morelos, and all the many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins including his special cousin Lita Cocke.
Memorial Mass will be Friday, August 26, 2011 4:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Church, Gilroy.
