Raymond Bagood Orca passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026 at the age of 80. Born in Gilroy, California on October 8, 1945, he is survived by his wife Joyce, two sons Dion and Jason, his brothers Ciano, Edward, Perfecto, David, and John, sister Elizabeth, and countless extended family members and friends.
Raymond grew up in Gilroy in a large Filipino family guided by his loving parents Ciano and Emilie Orca where he attended San Ysidro Elementary School before graduating from Gilroy High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation, Ray joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country as a Navy “Seabee”, twice being deployed to Vietnam during the height of that conflict, before his eventual discharge in 1967. After his service, Ray lived and worked in Gilroy and Santa Maria, California before moving to Georgia and Florida, where he passed away.
Ray lived and loved life to fullest enjoying large family gatherings, barbecues, boating, fishing and rooting for his beloved San Francisco 49ers. Although he was generally quiet and laid back, he welcomed all and had a calming effect on everyone who knew him as they laughed at all the stories he shared.
His family and friends all miss him dearly, but are grateful to know that Raymond is finally at peace.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Gilroy at 11:00AM on October 17, 2026 followed by a celebration of life at the VFW Hall in Gilroy scheduled for 12:00PM to 5:00PM.
