Ramon M. Perales

Ramon Macias Perales, age 90, of Gilroy, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his children, John Perales Sr. (Leighan) and Hermila Perales; his grandchildren, John Perales Jr., Ashleigh Perales, and Lauren Perales; and his siblings, Sara Perales, Evelia Flores, Cristobal Perales, Daniel Perales, Jesus Manuel Perales and Samuel Perales. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Esperanza Frausto Perales; his sister, Maria De Los Angeles Perales; and his parents, Ampelia Macias Arellano and Juan Perales De La Torre.

Ramon was born in San Martín de Bolaños, Jalisco, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States in 1973 with his wife, Esperanza. They settled in Gilroy, where they made their home and raised their family. Ramon worked for Foremost Gentry, which later became Gilroy Foods, for over 40 years. He was an avid gardener and tree enthusiast who loved caring for his many plants and fruit trees.

Ramon was a devoted family man who cared deeply for his wife of 48 years, his children, grandchildren, godchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Known affectionately as Don Ramon, he was cherished by his friends and neighbors for his generosity, quick wit, and kind heart. After he and his wife retired, they opened their home to foster children, many of whom became part of their extended family.

Ramon will be deeply missed by all who loved him. The memories of his stories about growing up on the rancho, his mischievous smile when telling a joke, and the love and affection he showed his family and friends will live on.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
