Rafael Herrera passed away peacefully on the morning of September 16, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 44 years old.

Rafael grew up in Gilroy, raised by loving parents, along with his sister, and remained there to raise his own family after he married Jenny Herrera. Growing up alongside several cousins, he stayed close with many of them until his passing. He is remembered fondly by so many as a loving husband, caring father, and fun-loving brother. Rafa was known as a man of very strong faith and conviction, a deep thinker, a no-nonsense positive attitude with a great sense of humor. Friends and family appreciated his large smile with squinty eyes whenever he would let out that good-natured chuckle of his.

Rafael loved gatherings with friends and family, going fishing, watching football as a Miami Dolphins fan, and taking his family on trips to Disneyland, Universal Studios, and other destinations from the time his two daughters were babies. He would take his wife wine-tasting anytime he had the chance.  It was his passion to cook dinners, including his famous pizzas. He also enjoyed barbecuing with his grills and smokers for family and friends. He was always ready for some good laughs and having a great time. Rafael was very skilled at woodworking and creating one-of-a-kind pieces for his home.

Rafael is survived by his wife of 24 years - Jenny Hererra, daughters - Katherine and Natalie Hererra, sister - Maria Teresa Herrera, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father - Rafael Herrera Sr., his mother - Elizabeth Betty Herrera, and his grandmothers - Julia Herrera and Maria Magdalena Villarreal.

Services will be held on Saturday October 7th at The Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Hall in Gilroy at 2:00pm
