Porfirio "Pilo" Chavez, 71 of Gilroy, was born November 2, 1947 in Michoacan, Mexico and passed away September 1, 2019 in Gilroy. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Delfina Chavez and his 6 sons: Juan, Julio, Ricardo, Samuel, Porfirio Jr., and Sergio.  Pilo was preceded in death by his only daughter Noemi Chavez who passed in 1995.

Porfirio has been called to the doors of heaven and has been reunited with his daughter.

Porfirio was a devoted and hard working husband/father/grandfather. Porfirio spent his life working in outdoors and loved anything to do with plants, trees. Porfirio wAs a very social person and loved to joke around. He was known by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Porfirio left in peace accomplishing his one of his final wishes. Walking his oldest grand-daughter Noemi to the altar this June 2019,  And that gave him great satisfaction.

Rest in peace Pilo.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 11:15 am to 1:00 pm at Habing Family Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:15 at St. Mary Church, Gilroy. Burial will be at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
