Pete C. Mireles passed away at his home surrounded by his family in Royal Oaks (Watsonville), California on November 17, 2023, at the age of 86. He was born in Coleman, Texas on June 19, 1937, to Pedro and Estefana Mireles. Pete was the oldest boy out of 15 children.
Pete was a resident of Royal Oaks, California. He was a farm worker for many of his younger years. Pete was a member of the Army National Guard. He also worked in a nursery in Watsonville. Most of Pete's work years were as a construction worker. Although the work was very tiring, he enjoyed his job. Pete eventually retired from construction. After retiring, he became a custodian at B.A.S. and Gavilan College.
Pete is survived by his children and their spouses, Denise (Barry) Brenda, Dominick (April) and Judy (Rich). As well as their grandchildren, Cheryl (Brett), Julian (Natalie), Christian, Michael (Rosie), Amanda (James), Luke (Kathryn), Miranda (Mitch), Gannon (Natalie), and three great grandchildren, Brayden, Baylee, and Jack. Pete is also survived by his siblings, Frank, Jesse, Tommy, Henry, Arnold, Mingo, Mary, Delores, Lily, and Margie. Pete is preceded in death by his lovely wife Carrie of 63 years, his parents, his baby daughter, Cheryl Renee, and his siblings, Bobby, Emily, Fannie, and Eva and other loved ones.
When Pete's children were younger, he enjoyed taking them on family trips. They would go to such places as camping, amusement parks, and A's games. Pete also liked tailgating and attending Oakland Raiders' games. He was fond of listening to Tex-Mex music. Pete enjoyed dancing with his wife as well as his daughters and sisters. He was a smooth dancer. Pete also adored going to his grandchildren's sporting events and theater productions. Family and friends would be amused sitting with Pete and listening to him reminisce about him growing up and about his adventures.
Pete was an extremely hard worker. Working in his yard to make it look beautiful was such a joy for him. Pete was generous with his time. He would help family and friends with various projects. When seeing a stranger stranded on the road, Pete would often pull over to the side of the road to assistant them. Not only was Pete generous with his time but he was continuously giving out money to those in need.
Rosary at St. Mary's Catholic Church 11 1st St. Gilroy, CA on Friday, December 15th @ 9:15AM.
Funeral Mass will follow the rosary at 10:00AM at St. Mary's.
