IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul
Mcallister
September 18, 1937 – July 24, 2024
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and uncle–Paul McAllister passed away on Wednesday, July 24th, at the age of 86. Born on September 18, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, he lived most of his life in the Bay Area, California. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring as Captain McAllister after serving active duty both domestically and in Korea, as well as many years in the reserves. He was also proud to be an architect and to have graduated with an architectural engineering degree from Cal Poly SLO, a school he dearly loved. For more than 30 years, he had his own architectural business in San Jose. With his beloved wife of 60 years, Kathleen, they bought their first house on Via Del Sol in north San Jose in 1968 and lived there until relocating to "the farm" in Gilroy in 1997 for their retirement, starting a whole new and amazing chapter in their lives, and the lives of their family.
Known for his legendary laugh, more than anything, Paul McAllister will be remembered for his fierce love of family–his wife and daughters, but also countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He loved being "Grandpa Paul" and "Uncle Paul" more than anything and had so much fun with the little ones, whether wiggling his fake tooth, playing Marco/Polo in the pool, or taking visitors on tractor rides. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; twin brother, Bob; daughters, Marcy and Tracy; his son-in-law, Matt LaRont; granddaughter, Brianna De La Cruz; and grandson, Hunter LaRont, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and family-by-choice, too many to mention.
Paul is being interned at the California Central Coast Veteran's Cemetery in Seaside, CA. He will receive a service with full military honors. A Celebration of Life will be held in a few months' time at their home in Gilroy, CA.
