Patricia A. Howorth, born on March 24, 1924 in Denison, Iowa to Edmund V. and Mary C. Howorth, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015, from complications relating to an injury she sustained in June 2014.
Patricia "Tish" was the family historian. She described the migration of her family from Denison, Iowa to Gilroy, California in 1935. Five children and both parents in one Oldsmobile were pretty challenging to say the least. Patricia never tired of telling stories about her childhood adventures with her brothers and sister. While happy to be living in California, Patricia missed her extended family left behind in Iowa, especially her Aunt Sarah. Years after leaving Iowa she and her Aunt Sarah were able to enjoy several years of travel and companionship.
Patricia went to Saint Mary's Catholic School and Gilroy High school. After her graduation, she embarked on a very successful and fulfilling career with Wells Fargo Bank. Patricia loved watching baseball and going to casinos with her brothers and enjoyed visiting her sister in Colorado. She had a dry wit about her, and could stop you in your tracks with her "look" which was always delivered with impeccable timing.
She was a very special and devoted Aunt to her many nieces and nephews making each one of them feel like they were her favorite.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund V. and Mary C. Howorth; her brothers Edmund and Robert Howorth; her sister, Mary Jane Allemand; her nephew, Patrick Allemand; and nieces, Anne Marie Allemand and Mary Frances (Allemand) Katzenmeier.
Patricia is survived by her brother John Howorth, Gilroy, CA, her nephews John and James Allemand, of Portland, OR, and nieces Joan (Allemand) Harrison and husband Paul, Broomfield, CO, Deborah Howorth, Paso Robles, CA, and Kathy (Howorth) Gallivan, and husband Mark, Napavine, WA. She is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home.
