Obituary

Nora Mae (Hiett) Gooding, 85 of Gilroy, California passed away in San Jose on December 31, 2018. Nora was born April 3, 1933 in Gilbert, Arizona. Her parents were Katie Gustava Coor and Major McKinley Hiett. Mom liked to remember that when she was in the fourth grade during World War II that you used stamps for shoes and things. Mom used her shoe stamps for cowboy boots and then she was stuck wearing boots all the time even with her dresses.

In 1948, Nora met Ted (Theodore Dawson Gooding) on a blind date. On April 1, 1950 she married the love of her life. Ted and Nora had five children: Georgianna, Neil, Elaine, Brian and Terry. In 1965, Ted passed and left Nora to raise five children and manage Ted's fruitstand, "The Country Market". Nora was only 32 and a strong woman that maintained the home, the business and kept the meaning of family foremost in everyone's life. Over the years, family and friends were a vital part of the Gooding household and yellow house on Eschenburg Drive.

Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Gooding, her son Neil Dawson Gooding; her sisters Grace Elaine (Hiett) McNeill and Patricia Ann (Hiett) Coleman. Nora is survived by her children Georgianna (Jack Cornett), Elaine, Brian and Terry (Debbie), daughter in law Teresa, grandson Donny (Melissa) was also raised by Nora. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
