Nieves Montez Garcia passed in peace with family by her side on June 15th at the age of 92 years old.

Nieves was born in El Paso, Texas on March 10 ^th ,1927 to Jesus Montez and Jesusita Gardea. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting blankets, clothing and accessories for dolls and cooking for friends and family. She always had wonderful and memorable food ready for visitors and she later opened a restaurant in Gilroy with her late husband Felix Garcia whom passed away on February 14th, 1998.

Nieves is survived by her children Christina and Felipe (spouse) Ortiz, Michael and Amparo (spouse) Garcia, Arnaldo Garcia, and her grandchildren, Roberto Corral, Rene Corral, Jaime Corral, Daniel Ortiz, Ricardo Ortiz, Evangeline Tobin, Bernadette Chapa, Stacy Quezada, Tricia Garcia, Lulu Garcia, Elisha Hernandez, Elena Ottaviano, Natalie Garcia and Margarita Garcia. Along with numerous great and great great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with Rosary at 1:30 pm at Habing Family Funeral Home.  A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at St. Mary Church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
