Nellie Flores was born to Manuel and Apolonia Flores in Gilroy, CA.
Nellie Flores Ortiz transitioned from earth to Glory surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Gilroy, CA. She was employed at the Gilroy Canning Company for over 30 years. Nellie Ortiz was one of the founding members of the Full Gospel Prayer Tabernacle and was instrumental in helping raise funds to erect the existing sanctuary and remained an active member until she went to her reward. Nellie Flores Ortiz was the wife of Hermenio Anthony Ortiz, Sr., the mother of Linda Valdespino (Tito) of Oakland, CA, Rachel Herbstritt (Mark) of Pennsylvania, Lucy Mendez (David, Sr.) of Gilroy, and Deborah Hernandez (Julio, Jr.) of San Jose, CA. Her son Anthony Ortiz, Jr. (Rosie) preceded her in death in September 1988. Also, preceded her in death by her parents, Manuel and Apolonia (Pola) Flores. She was the sister of Larry Flores, Frank Flores, Margaret (Maggie) Hernandez and Josie Valladares. Pre-deceased siblings include: Peter Flores, Louie Flores and Lolo Flores. She was the grandmother and great-grandmother to many. She was Tia to many nephews and nieces. Nellie was also a friend to many whom she was acquainted.
Celebration of Her Life will be held at Full Gospel Prayer Tabernacle, 7250 Forest Street, Gilroy, CA on Tuesday October 18, 2016 at 7:00 PM. Viewing will begin at 5:00 PM. Burial Service will also be at Full Gospel Prayer Tabernacle on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment immediately following, will be at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, 1000 1st Street, Gilroy, CA 95020
