Lifelong Gilroy resident Michael Sheedy passed away in his home on January 5, 2023, after years of living with Diabetes and battling Cancer.

Michael was born on August 16, 1964, at Wheeler Hospital.  He was the youngest and eighth child of Matt and Dolores Sheedy.  Michael was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Dolores Sheedy, as well as his brothers Fr. Mateo Sheedy, Louie Sheedy, and Mark Sheedy.  He is survived by his siblings and their spouses Mary Kroeger (Michael) of Mountain View, David Sheedy (Lisa) of Gilroy, John Sheedy (Nancy) of Sparks, NV and Genie Yamaoka (Bryan) of Hollister, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Michael grew up on Walnut Lane with his parents and siblings alongside many neighbors that became extended family, such as the Lozas, Maguires, Lujans and Naranjos.

He attended Glenview Elementary School, Brownell Junior High School, Gilroy High School, and Gavilan Community College.  Over the years Michael was a Produce Manager for Nob Hill Foods, worked for Christopher Garlic and operated a Snap On Tools Franchise.

Michael volunteered for the Gilroy Garlic Festival and Chaired the Wine Tent in the hey days of the Festival.  He found joy in serving others but would never admit it.

Michael was never short of words and you could hear him if he was anywhere in the vicinity. He was not afraid to tell you exactly what was on his mind, (like it or not), and there was no use arguing with him!

The Sheedy Family will celebrate Michael's life with a private burial per his wishes.
