Michael Conway Kennedy, 77, of Gilroy, California, passed away on October 12 surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Michael (Mike) was born on October 15, 1946 in Gilroy, California the son of Mark Edgar Kennedy and Jeanne Fischer Kennedy.

Mike graduated from Gilroy High School in 1964, then went on to Santa Clara University, earning a Bachelors of Science in Commerce and his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law.

Mike married Sheryl (Sherrie) Ottenbreit on June 24, 1978 at Saint Paul's Episcopal in Oakland, officiated by Reverend Donald Seaton. Mike and Sherrie shared 46 years of marriage, three children, two grandchildren, and countless rescue animals together.

Mike served as the President of the Gilroy Lumber Company for 25 years, and as Branch Manager at Graniterock Construction Company before retiring in 2008.

Mike especially loved the outdoors. He loved to venture around the American West in search of the perfect fly-fishing spot, he loved to hike, and he loved to travel with Sherrie to places near and far, including Scotland, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean.

Remaining to cherish Mike's memory are his wife, Sherrie; and his children, Todd Kennedy, Mark Kennedy and Carly Kennedy Prosser; his son-in-law, Bertram Prosser; his grandchildren, Naomi and Pierce Prosser; his sister, Christine Kennedy Wheeler; his brother-in-law, Paul Wheeler; his nephew, Steven Wheeler and his nieces, Leslie Wheeler, Mari Doroud Addis and Shally Doroud Tena.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on November 8, at Habing Family Funeral Home located at 129 4th Street in Gilroy.
