Mercedes P. Sanchez was born August 28, 1926 in Cadiz, Spain. She arrived in America after corresponding, meeting and finally marrying her wonderful husband, Thomas (Tommy) Joseph Sanchez of Gilroy on April 30th, 1954. Tommy preceded her in death in 1999. Mercedes gently passed to be with the Lord on May 8, 2013, being lovingly guided hand in hand by Tommy. She was the 17th child and last survivor of her 16 Spanish siblings. Tommy and Mercedes made several trips to Europe over the years and enjoyed those times immensely. Mercedes had a green thumb and enjoyed tending her plants and garden daily. She loved to crotchet as well and enjoyed showing others her talent. She also had a love for volunteering in the church and always happily filled in where needed.

Mercedes was the devoted mother of Steven Thomas Sanchez and Mercedes A. Rossell. She was also the loving step-mother to Bob Sanchez of Clovis and Dennis Sanchez of Hollister. Also mother-in-law to Joanna G. Sanchez, Debbie Sanchez and Lettie Sanchez.

In addition Mercedes was a doting grandmother to Anthony T. Cariglio, Frank Cariglio, Michael S. Sanchez and Jennifer J. Sanchez. She also adored her Great-grandchildren, Gabriel Cariglio, Rene Cariglio, Mila Cariglio, Lauren Cariglio, Lanette Cariglio, Kayla Cariglio, Aiden Gonzalez and Anthony Cordova.

Mercedes was a woman of great faith, outstanding work ethic and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her wit and wisdom will be missed

Memorial Service will be held at Habing Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013 at 7:00 P.M.
