IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary "Maria"
Salinas Zamaripa
February 2, 1934 – February 5, 2024
Our beloved, Mary Zamaripa, passed away peacefully at her home in Gilroy on February 5th , 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on Feb 2nd, 1934 in Raymondville, Texas to Bonifacio and Sinforosa Salinas. She was 1 of 12 siblings (10 sisters and 2 brothers).
The Matriarch of the Zamaripa family is survived by her 14 children and their spouses: Linda (Sam), Trinidad Jr, MaryLou, Rose, Juanita (Emilio), Elvira (Tom), Felix (Maria), Benito, Dolores (Chuck), Roy (Maria), Sam (Elsa), Josephine (Tony), Ernestine (Pete) and Leroy. In addition, she is survived by 49 grandchildren, 99 great grandchildren, 40 great- great grandchildren and still growing.
When her family moved to Michigan, she met the love of her life, Trinidad Zamaripa. They were married for 50 years before his passing. Her greatest achievement in life was not only being proud to be "Triney's Wife" but also raising her huge family. Mary was a home maker her entire life and did not have a formal education or even her driver's license but in her early years, she was able to drive busloads of field workers to the cotton fields in Arizona and also taught each of her kids to drive. The family eventually moved to California in 1964 where Mary resided until her passing.
In her later years, she developed a "travel bug" and loved traveling in an RV or car across the country where she toured the US many times. One of her favorite past times was listening to music and dancing with her grandchildren while enjoying her favorite drink (Coronas). Another pastime favorite was watching western movies and she was the biggest fan of "Walker" Texas Ranger (Chuck Norris).
Always going against the medical odds, she continued to travel and her love for life was the perfect example of someone living and not dying. Her love and acceptance for anyone and everyone was unmatched. "Grandma's door" was always open to all. She was loved deeply and will be missed by all who knew her.
The legacy that she leaves is of the "Beastly" strength she showed until her last breath. She will continue to be an inspiration for us all.
