Marlene
Hughes

Marlene Hughes, 78, of Gilroy, California passed away peacefully at home after a nine year battle with Alzheimer's.
Marlene worked for the Gilroy Unified School District for 34 years progressing in her employment to the very important position of Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, which she held for 15 years before retiring.
Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed coaching Little League for her daughters, attending all of their sporting events, working at The Gilroy Garlic Festival and playing recreational softball.
She enjoyed going to see Cher in concert, going to the casinos and to the movies. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, and the Stanford Women's Basketball games. Marlene especially loved watching The Golden Girls.
She treasured her time with her beloved granddaughter, Melissa. They enjoyed trips to Disneyland, the beach, and shopping at the mall.
She is survived her husband Mike, her daughter Maureen (Mona), her daughter Margene (Mike), her granddaughter Melissa, and her beloved dog Daphne, all of Gilroy. She is also survived by her brothers Elbert (Rosie), Ed (Dora Jean) and sister Barbara Jean (Jerry) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Enos and her sister, Geraldine Ghiorzi.
The family would like to thank the wonderful Kaiser Hospice staff who helped Margene and Maureen care for their mother in the final weeks of her life.
