Obituary
On Saturday, October 17, 2015, while surrounded by family and in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Marla was called home. She was 51 years old and a survivor. She was blessed in this life with two amazing daughters; Candase Shemaiah Heath and Jashana Nikya Willis.
Born the seventh child of the Heath clan, she was raised in Sapulpa Oklahoma, by her mother Edna Heath, and Father, Theodore Heath Sr. both predeceased her. A brother Theodore Heath Jr., predeceased. She leaves her brothers; Gary Smith and Sammy Heath, sisters: ShaRon Mills, Rhonda Stark, all of Gilroy, CA, sister, Vinita Smith of Tulsa Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Marla attended Bethany Community Church in Gilroy Ca, under Pastor Gerald E. Harris where she served as an Usher. She attended Sapulpa High School, and San Jose State University where she obtained her credentials to be a Medical Assistant for fourteen years at Kaiser Hospital. Throughout her career, she served as a Chief Shop Steward, Contract Specialist, and Rep Chair for Service Employee International Union for United Healthcare Workers (SEIU-UHW) where she had the honor and privilege, to help her co-workers who were amazing people; they often gave her the strength and courage to get through her journey and the desire to return to the work to help others.
Marla LOVED life. She loved to; play with her dog and third child, PJ, watch her soap operas, spend quality time with her niece, Trinity. She loved to read, dance, sing and be silly with her girls. Marla loved to chat and laugh with her sisters and friends, until tears ran down her face!
Marla fought every day to stay alive and to be with her family. We will cherish every moment; the great ones, the sad ones, the easy and the hard. Together as a family we learned to feel the deep sense of faith that we shared. No matter where this journey takes Marla next, her LOVE will remain forever with us.
