Obituary

Mark "Marcos" Wayne Britzius, son of Alice Vairora (Santos) and John Henry Britzius, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on Sunday February 21, 2016, at the age of 68, after a subsequent triumph over cancer - and later ongoing battle with a new cancer and related health complications, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. He is survived by his uncle, Al Vairora, nieces Argie Callaham and Naiya "Toni" Cominos, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his devoted loving mother Alice, proud father John, and beloved sister Joan DeVine-Cominos. Mark attended Gilroy High School. A vibrant young man, he was popular, athletic, comedic, and fun-loving. A self-professed "tinkerer" who enjoyed working with his hands, he could often be found bargain-hunting, repurposing, and refinishing vintage and antique furniture. Mark loved music and sometimes wrote song lyrics for his musician friends, like Sam Brekke. He also loved (and often rescued) at-risk animals. During his life he fostered and adopted dogs, cats, pigeons, and a beautiful Arabian horse named Elvis.

Private interment and ceremony will be held at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park at 1000 First Street in Gilroy.
