Obituary

Mario Garcia Talamante, Jr passed away on December 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 12, 1974 (48) in San Jose, CA. Raised in Gilroy, CA. He was the son of Mario C Talamante and Alice Garcia Talamante. Besides his parents, he is survived by his beloved wife Robertina Talamante and 6 children, Mario III (Ashely), Moses (Yasabel), Michelle, Camille, Katie, Alex (Nate); 7 grandchildren Mario IIII, Athena, Matthew, Caiden, Amelia, Eleanor and Cooper with #8 Maddison on her way, Siblings Francisco, Patricia and Angie. Along with many nephews and nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts and many, many friends.

He was the greatest family man you would ever know. All he wanted was to spend time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved going on family trips, getting together for pizza nights, taking the kids to the movies for blue slurpee time, and finding any excuse to host a backyard BBQ. He was the life of the party anywhere he went, so entertaining, humorous, and a man of many words. If you had the opportunity to meet him, I'm sure he gave you a word of advice, cracked a joke, or taught you a life lesson. He was well known to have a quick wit, fast smile, and a tender heart. He only ever wanted the best for anyone that crossed his path. At first meeting, you may have not been able to see eye to eye with him, but he was a man you certainly grew to love. #WINNING

He also loved his sports. His favorite teams were the Yankees and Raiders, of course. But his love for sports pours out into his overwhelming influence in his baseball community in his hometown. If you've ever spent time watching Gilroy Little League games, you've probably seen him coaching, umpiring, or cheering on one of his kids or grandkids in the stands. He donated countless hours to the youth in the community even when he didn't have a child or grandchild on the team. He coached and umpired because he loved the game, he loved our youth, and loved being an active role in the community. Through the game of baseball, he taught players lessons of life, nurtured their confidence, and mentored many into adulthood. He had such a big heart for his community. They were his second family.

Speaking of second family, can't forget to mention his IBEW Local 332 Union family. Another thing he loved and did until the very last day, was work as an electrician. He joined the union in 2005 and graduated in 2010 to become an Inside Wireman. He had such pride in being an electrician and fit right in. The friendships he made and the impact he had on the work environment were undeniable. His presence always made work a lot easier, made the day go by faster with his constant wittiness, and many of his brothers admired him for that.

Mario was an unforgettable man. He will be celebrated and cherished everyday through the communities he impacted and his loving family. His legacy and spirit will live on forever in each of us. In the words of Mario, be kind to each other and stay cool.

The family will host a celebration of life following the services.
