Marietta Catherine Scagliotti was born June 4, 1912 in Cosenza, Italy. She came to America on October 23, 1923 along with her parents and six siblings. They joined three siblings already in America. She worked at the Filice & Perrelli Cannery along with her family.

She married Edward Scagliotti on June 10, 1934. They had four children, Robert (Meri Lee) Scagliotti, Marjorie (Steve) Camacho, Edward (Linda) Scagliotti, Jr. and Susan Scagliotti.
She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Joanna (Scott) Chaurette, Morgan Scagliotti, Lisa Burt, Marta (Owen) Hardy, Stephanie Camacho PHD, Joseph Camacho, Aaron Scagliotti, Jacob Scagliotti and eight great grandchildren, Remy Chaurette, Anthony Burt, Allison Burt, Adam Burt, Annika Hardy, Anthony Scagliotti, Jordan Scagliotti and Blake Scagliotti.

Marietta was preceded in death by her husband Ed (1998), her daughter, Susan (1967) and her grandson Joseph (1990). She was the sole surviving siblilng at 102 years old.
After retiring from the Cannery in 1985 she volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at St. Louise Hospital, Gilroy Garlic Festival and along with her husband, Ed they helped with the "Brown Bag" program at the Senior Center.

She was a member of several organizations but was an active member of CLAS since 1942.

Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Parish, 11 First Street, Gilroy, CA. Inurnment will be private at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
