Born July 21, 1922 in Pittsburg, CA to Frank and Annie Di Maggio. Marie was the youngest of 5 children. She worked in the cannery with her mom Annie during her teens.
She met Michael A. Pirozzoli in April of 1942 at a family wedding and was married on November 22, 1942 in Pittsburg, CA. Michael was already living in Gilroy, CA where they made their home. They had a family business that became famous throughout Gilroy, New Gilroy Bakery with Bill and Mary Pirozzoli.
Marie and Mike raised 3 daughters; MaryAnn (Neil ) Goodrich, Patricia (Tony) Caramiho and Jeanette (Martin) Ehrich. 6 grandchildren; Gina Goodrich, Kathleen (George) Hafely, AnnMarie Eathorne, Andrea (Dan) Payne, Tristin (Michael) Caramiho and Chad (Carrie) Ehrich. 8 great grandchildren; Kira and Harrison Wood, Ashley and Kaylee Hafely, Johnny and Olivia Eathorne and Derek and Sabrina Payne. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and her sister Nora Ferrante. Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband Michael, sisters Jennie Bruno and Sara Bruno, and brother Joe Di Maggio.
Marie was a member of many local clubs including; South Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Italian Catholic Federation, Gilroy Seniors, Italian American Club, San Martin Lions Club, Catholic Ladies Aid Society (president for 2 years), Sons of Italy of Gilroy (president for 2 years), Women in Touch II and Jezebel's.
Her favorite hobbies were sewing, bingo, casinos, bocci ball, canning olives, and baking cookies.
A visitation will take place from 1:00 – 9:00pm, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will begin 10:00am, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gilroy.
